Individual members of Crash strut their stuff in this mini-marathon celebration of their virtuosity. The gig ranges from the beautifully ambient to the heart-stoppingly energetic, in pieces that are exclusively for single instruments (both with and without electronics) and multiples of the same instruments. Includes Steve Reich’s Cello Counterpoint (in a performance by Kate Ellis singled out for high praise by Reich himself), Xenakis’s powerful Rébonds for solo percussion, and the first Irish performance of Kevin Volans achingly beautiful Cikada (with the composer himself at one of the pianos) along with pieces by Donnacha Dennehy, Ian Wilson, Philip Glass, Helmut Lachenmann and Scelsi.
